This to Celebrate
- This is my third semester at Animas. one thing that I've seen over the course of my highschool career at Animas is my leadership skills. Leadership it's a great skill that can carry on throughout my entire life. it shows through in all aspects, Sports, School, work, and my relationships with my peers. a time that I have seen leadership really shine this year was in Roxy's class. This year I was assigned a project application first class of the day. I thought a great way to catch up on work an do any missing assignments. But Roxy had asked me if I could help her first hour with the transfer students. digital art is a strength of mine and I was honored to help her teach and show the kids coming from other schools how to use it. I was in her class this whole semester helping like a student teacher.
- another great strength of mine that I am celebrating is my ability to have a open mind/ growth mindset. a growth mindset is when you are open to new ideas and possibilities that you are uncomfortable with. This semester in Ali Johnson's class we started a new project called the hero's journey. I thought the whole project was very interesting and complex. At the end of the project when it was our turn to start making our final product for the exhibition we were told we had to tell a story in front of our class and maybe even at the exhibition. I am not the biggest fan of public speaking so I was scared and nervous. I realized that these were my peers that I had been with for a year-and-a-half now. Wasn't going to let this stop me from telling an awesome story. Find I went up in front of my peers and told a story of my childhood. I was finished everyone loved it I had psych myself out when it wasn't even that bad.
- Last strength that I am celebrating is my teamwork and collaboration skills. being a project-based school being able to work in groups is a huge part. If you have good collaboration skills it can carry through many careers and parts of life. being good collaborator means that you can overcome obstacles in your way, have good communication skills that everyone in your group can understand, and being able to not take charge or not sit back in a group but contribute your fair share. the project that I have seen these collaboration skills really work in is the eye diagram project in biology. in this project I worked with Diego and Josh. we all had a certain job and task that we had assigned each other. we had been communicating in school and out of school of what we need to get done at a certain time.
- One area of growth I have from this semester is my perseverance. I am a very bright and well minded student. but when it comes the time to turn in work or do homework I often procrastinate or put it aside till later. this is something that I am aware of and I am trying to change. I have seen this and many of my classes when I don't turn in work until it becomes late work. I get good grades on them but I still get points taken off because it's late.
- another area of growth I've had this year is my skills to refine my work. when there is a project or an assignment that I do not like I tend to put my best foot forward. I have many great ideas and many great skills. But when it comes down to turning into work and getting a grade I will half ass my work. this tends to show through in the work that I do not click with. it is a strength that I am working on that can help me in school and in my life after school.
