Project Reflection |
In this project we learned about the hero's journey. We learned about rites of passage in our life and in the hero's journey. The hero's journey says that every story with a hero is basicly the same hero just different look and appearance. We read parts out of Joseph Campbell's book “Hero with a Thousand faces.” we got a background knowledge about the journey. With the knowledge we watched Star Wars to see the elements from the theory. We created poster showing all the steps, The call, Crossing the threshold guardians, Trials and Temptations, ect. To Further our knowledge we read to book The Alchemist and Siddhartha. At the end of the project we looked into our life to find important memoirs or events that have changed us. We found a story/memoir and started pull out the details. We started rehearsing them and practice them. At the exhibition you had the opportunity to share you story on stage. Your name was drawn out of a hat.
Throughout this project I have grown in many ways. One way I have grown was my confidences. We had to present many times with starters, seminars and telling your story in front of the class. Also my refinement has improved. With all the work we have been doing in this project I have had to refine all my work. I have become better at finding and editing my mistakes. I have never really like hearing critiques and feedback. I tend to put up a shell and not refine it but I have realized that a different point of view will bring different opinions and make it better.
The knowledge I will take away from this project will be what it is to be a hero and the whole concept of the hero's journey. A Hero according to Joseph Campbell “ is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” A hero is a relevant term in my life. as I am growing up and becoming an adult I will soon get my Call to Adventure. There will be many times in my life where I will have to cross the trials and temptations that will try to hold me back. I will come across allies and mentors. All in all the hero's journey will appear many times in my life, as I I'm going on a journey called life
